DataSync Technology Overview
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Effective September 1st, 2006, the Data Synchronization Server is no
longer being offered as a standalone product for logistic purposes,
product consolidation and branding considerations. Sync Server
modules are only being bundled with their parent applications for future
distribution. Updates to existing standalone sync servers will no
longer be offered after the expiration of existing licenses.

The Liberation Software Data
Synchronization software is designed to provide a fast, flexible, two-way data
transport to replicate data contained on the JDIS legacy business systems to and
from a transact-SQL compatible database, such as SQL Server. The Data Synchronization Server’s sole duty is to transport data
back and forth between these systems, although certain optional components may
be configured to extend the server to fit other unrelated network roles.
Advanced data integrity and auditing
capabilities are built in - you could literally wipe a thousand records out on
the SQL server side, and the data sync process will trigger a self-repair.
There is minimal processor overhead required on the legacy system, and network
traffic is also minimized due to advanced data compression techniques.
Key Benefits
-
Allows transaction software to be developed in Windows which integrates
with data contained on the JDIS legacy business system.
-
Works remotely - even for dealers with hosted business
systems and a sync server at their home office!
-
Reliable, scalable, and robust data synchronization services for Unix
<-> Windows replication of data
-
Database services typically provided by Microsoft SQL Server, an industry leader
in database technology.
-
Servers double as VPN endpoint, for remote connectivity.
-
Sync software compatible with Microsoft Server 2000 and Server 2003, as
well as most every Transact-SQL compatible database in existence.
